In an era of fast-paced globalization and corporate internationalization, there has been a rise in the number of sterile, homogenous spaces – which anthropologist Marc Auge refers to as “non-places”. These spaces are defined by their lack of individual identity, interaction and history.
To further investigate this topic, I created booklets with stickers based off common visual elements associated with three non-places in New York; ATM vestibules, supermarkets, and parking lots.
The final outcome is a response to the lack of identity, history and interaction within these non-places by re-contextualizing their common visual associations.
